Marwell’s Zany Zebras

Marwell Zoo came to us with an exciting project: an order of 100 life-sized zebras for a charity fundraiser. To ensure each model was completely identical (within a one-millimetre accuracy), we made a mould of the first zebra and replicated it. At one point, we had built so many zebras our warehouse felt like a safari park!

Each plain white zebra was sponsored by an artist, school or organisation, who painted them with all sorts of wonderful patterns and colours. The decorated sculptures were dotted around Southampton for people to enjoy, before being auctioned to raise money for charity.

We really enjoyed working on this project as it bought the whole community together – it was lovely seeing how the models turned out. Thanks to the zebras, Marwell Zoo managed to raise over £87,000!
